Pia has a PhD in zoology. She returned to research in 2005 with a Daphne Jackson Trust Fellowship, having taken a career break to raise her children.  Following her Fellowship, Pia continued her research into the genetics of primary lymphoedema, on a part-time basis at St George’s Hospital, London whilst also working for the Daphne Jackson Trust as Senior Fellowship Advisor. In 2013 Pia was appointed as a full-time lecturer at St Georges, but continues to actively support the work of the Trust as an Advisor.
