Formation of the Trust
A Fellowship Scheme for Women Returners to Science and Engineering was set up by Professor Daphne Jackson in 1985. Following Daphne Jackson’s sad and untimely death in 1991, a Trust was established in 1992 to continue her work and the Fellowship scheme. The Daphne Jackson Memorial Fellowships Trust (Daphne Jackson Trust) is based in the Department of Physics at the University of Surrey in Guildford.

The Daphne Jackson Trust is governed by a board of Trustees who are all eminent scientists and engineers. An effective administration team looks after the candidates, Fellowships and all day-to-day operations. The Daphne Jackson Trust is acknowledged as running the foremost returners’ scheme in the country and is the only charitable Trust in the UK dedicated to retraining scientists and returning them to their careers.
